The Director of Marketing and Communication reports to the VP of Membership and is responsible for the day-to-day oversight, planning, implementing, and executing of the organization's strategic marketing plans and communications efforts to ensure member engagement and growth. Responsible for marketing and communications strategy that supports advocacy, membership, education, annual meeting, special events, publications, professional affairs/policy, products, and services directed to members, customers, markets and industries. As Director, you must possess strong leadership and project management qualities to lead and inspire the marketing team.RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and manage the marketing, advertising, and communication efforts for TIA to attract and retain members, increase sales, and provide members with information they needExecute and achieve the sales, marketing, communication, and branding goals of the Strategic Plan.Develop and manage consistent and compelling marketing and advertising campaigns that generate new members; promote the Association, its members, and its associated products.Work across TIA departments to develop and support marketing promotion, materials and branding efforts for events, membership, Services, education, and advocacyDevelop and execute TIA branding initiatives to members, associates, shippers, and government related stakeholdersEstablish and manage benchmarks, metrics and timelines necessary to achieve strategic objectives.Work with internal stakeholders to develop core communications messaging and advocacy. Direct the Association's communications efforts to members, associates, media and trade press. Efforts include TIA media (3PL Magazine, Logistics Weekly, the Website, and social media, podcasts).Monitor and disseminate press about TIA members. Facilitate TIA Communications Committee to work towards Association alignment on communications goals.On an ongoing basis, evaluate effectiveness of strategies, services, materials, benefits and policies.Other duties as assignedPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:Bachelor's degree in an area with at least 8-10 years of progressive association experience and/or managing the marketing function.At least 3-5 years in a management capacity. Preferred 10+ years association experience with specific experience working within and/or managing a marketing function.Experience serving as liaison to internal and external groups.Exposure and/or experience to marketing principles and tactics,A' particularly within a multidisciplinary association environmentOrganized self-starter capable of making independent decisions affecting the development and implementation of all aspects of TIA.Accurate, detail oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting assigned deadlines.Work with and across departments to develop and maintain a collaborative team relationshipProvide excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholdersHighly collaborative, team-focused professional with the ability to communicate effectively with peers and leaders at all levels and provide exceptional customer serviceStrong organizational skills, the ability to perform a variety of complex tasks and a wide degree of creativity and latitude. Experience and ability to plan and accomplish goalsFlexibility and the ability to multi-task to facilitate frequent customer inquiries and evolving demands in this busy industryLanguage Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.A' Ability to proof read and edit reports, journals, and procedure manuals.A' Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, and the general public.Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of opinions and pull into a concise and achievable goal.Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; ability to read financial reports; ability to utilize CRM systems; and the ability to utilize the iMIS database. Understanding of social media platforms, HTML, content/inbound marketing, Google AdWords, Informz, and Adobe Creative Suite.Certificates and Licenses: None needed.Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises one to two employees and contractors within the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with the TIA Employee Handbook, TIA Board of Directors Policy Manual and Handbook, and applicable laws.A' Responsibilities include interviewing, making hiring recommendations, supervising the training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work in accordance with the TIA Strategic Plan; appraising performance; making reward and discipline recommendations; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.Work Environment: General office conditions.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
