The mission of GW Hospital is to provide the highest quality healthcare, advanced medical technology, and world-class service to its patients in an academic medical center dedicated to education and research.POSITION SUMMARYLeadership and Managerial ResponsibilitiesEstablishes course of action for self and others to accomplish a specific goal in concert with organizational objectives; plans appropriate follow-up activities unless otherwise communicated to supervisor with only rare exceptions. Monitors results.Oversee marketing team member - provide coaching and mentoring.Communications & MarketingDevelops key messages and strategies for use with internal and/or external audiencesReinforces the hospital's mission, vision and tagline in day-to-day communications with physicians, employees and other GW stakeholdersOversees creation and implementation of communication materials that effectively describe and promote the hospital and its products including brochures, web pages, news articles, fact sheets, signs, advertisements and online media.Work with Marketing Director to manage consumer marketing/service line campaigns across a variety of media channels including digital, social, out of home, print and television. Manage the hospital intranet including updating internal communications, employee recognition, upcoming events, videos, etc. Ensure hospital information is accurate and current.Oversee internal communications at the hospital, including leadership communications, the weekly internal newsletter, CEO Town Halls and quarterly communication.Create and manage internal campaigns and messaging. Event ManagementResponsible for hospital and ambulatory system events including patient, employee, physician and community outreach events.Host employee and community events as part of the market's outreach campaigns including NBC Health and Fitness Expo, internal employee events, health screening and outreach events for patients, outreach events including ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, and community events.Work with external events contractor to oversee planning process including selecting speakers, choosing entertainment and food, coordinating space needs, gathering volunteers, managing staffing and registration.Collaborates with service line to coordinate outreach for key programs (eg, stroke, cancer, kidney) to ensure we are meeting our goals for community education and accreditation.Coordinates with health care planning organizations (eg, Ward 8 Health Council, local ANC's) to ensure participation in community events and outreach to underserved communities.Acts as administrative liaison to the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the Employee Engagement Council. Assist both groups with messaging, collateral, and internal events.Oversee hospital sponsorships.Media RelationsManage hospital media relations, serving as a liaison between The George Washington University Hospital and the media. Supervise media relations including preparation and dissemination of information regarding the hospital to print, radio and television and other forms of media.Coordinate and collaborate media relations with UHS, MFA, and GW University marketing and public relations departments, when appropriateOversee physician and patient media interviews, identify and pitch stories. Archive footage and escort all media when onsite.Social MediaIntegrate social media page channels into all communications and public relations activities. Oversee content calendar for social media. Post information about new services, add press releases, and ensure that hospital information is accurate and current. Finance ResponsibilitiesHelp to develop and implement department-specific fiscal plans including but not limited to departmental budgets, compliance and monitoring of budgeted parameters. Takes appropriate corrective action while providing organization and direction for resource allocation according to the scope of services. QualificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS Education/QualificationsBachelor's DegreeMaster's Degree preferred6-8 years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, and events or related fieldHealthcare experience preferredPrevious experience working with traditional and non-traditional media outlets SkillsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalDemonstrated ability to define marketing strategy and develop comprehensive plans to strategically and financially position the hospital in the marketplaceKnowledge of brand management
