Performance Measurement & Business Analysis (PMBA) is responsible for aligning enterprise-wide metrics, analysis, reporting and performance measurement tools to drive AARP's strategic and operating performance. PMBA includes a Business Optimization team that provides consulting and advisory services to projects and initiatives where there is an enterprise-wide impact, unknown root cause and/or complex stakeholder interactions.
As a Business Optimization Manager in the Performance Measurement & Business Analysis team, you will serve as an internal consultant by objectively diagnosing obstacles, identifying areas of opportunity, and recommending solutions to complex business, operational, and organization problems. You will also drive and manage activities through the full lifecycle of a consulting engagement from proposal to implementation. In addition, you will leverage critical thinking and functional expertise in areas such as operations, process improvement, strategy, and organizational design in order to assess and improve operational performance.

Responsibilities
- Leads consulting engagements to address operational opportunities and improve organizational performance.
- Applies structured problem-solving frameworks to deconstruct complex organizational performance issues.
- Succinctly and effectively translates analysis into management presentations or client-ready deliverables.
- Conducts external research on industry leading practices.
- Scopes, proposes, and initiates plans to address organizational opportunities.
- Gathers and analyzes client performance data.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree (MBA or advanced degree highly preferred).
- 6+ years of relevant experience in at least 3 or more of the following areas: strategy development, performance improvement, operational & business analysis, quantitative analysis, operating model or service delivery design, process optimization, and change management, ideally in the commercial space.
- 5+ years of experience working at a reputable consulting firm as a senior-level consultant with significant client interface (e.g., project scoping, progress reviews, and presenting findings and recommendations).
- Successful track record of delivering high-impact operational improvement projects and guiding implementation efforts (e.g., facilitating stakeholder buy-in to achieve sustainable results).
- Lean Six-Sigma or Black Belt, PMP, or other professional certifications preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.
