Job Summary
Aptive is seeking a dedicated, forward-looking Project Director to support digital transformation within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This individual will work with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), VA Central Office (VACO) or the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to support the administration's mission with activities such as: project, product and product line management; moving from waterfall management processes to Agile and Scaled Agile practices; and from stove-piped development, delivery and operations processes to DevSecOps best practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). We are seeking individuals committed to delivering and improving quality services to Veterans.
Primary Responsibilities
A Project Director must have experience with diverse IT projects both large and small. Must be well versed in full systems development life cycle, enterprise-wide network engineering, strategic information planning, business process reengineering, structure and management practices. Must be able to identify and mitigate risks to the program. Must be able to manage to cost, schedule and performance. Must be proficient in some or all responsibilities:

- Identifying key objectives, tasks, and projects.
- Planning, scheduling, and strategizing about program goals.
- Creating budgets, guidelines, and other business-related documents for the program.
- Selecting and assigning team members to projects.
- Supervising project managers through reports and meetings.
- Updating senior management on project progress.
- Drafting reports on operations and plans for stakeholders.
- Acting as a liaison and spokesperson for the program.
- Ensuring the smooth running of operations under your control.
- Determining new projects, programs, and initiatives for the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Related Scientific /Technical Discipline is required.
(10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education) - 15 years related experience required
- Experience with diverse IT projects both large and small.
- Must be well versed in full systems development life cycle, enterprise-wide network engineering, strategic information planning, business process reengineering, structure and management practices.
- Must be able to identify and mitigate risks to the program.
- Must be able to manage to cost, schedule and performance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

- Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs.
