Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a dedicated, forward looking Junior Functional Analyst to support digital transformation within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This individual will work with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), VA Central Office (VACO) or the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to support the administration's mission with activities such as: project, product and product line management; moving from waterfall management processes to Agile and Scaled Agile practices; and from stove-piped development, delivery and operations processes to DevSecOps best practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). We are seeking individuals committed to delivering and improving quality services to Veterans.

Primary Responsibilities

A Junior Functional Analyst must have experience to analyze, validate, specify, and verify requirements defined by project leads to include customers and end users. Must be proficient in some or all responsibilities:

  • Analyze and evaluate existing systems for performance
  • Perform gap analysis and suggest solutions
  • Create plans for change based on analyzed requirements
  • Facilitate configuration management
  • Facilitate meetings, record notes, organize requirements
  • Document changes being made and relevant teaching manuals
  • Collaborate with other team members to efficiently implement changes
  • Simulate and test suggestions made for performance
  • Write user manuals and prepare easy to understand documentation
  • Assess, install, and troubleshoot software systems
  • Check functionality of the product


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline is required.
    (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.).
  • Must have experience to record, analyze, validate, specify, and verify requirements defined by project leads to include customers and end users
  • Must have exceptional written communication skills and the ability to rapidly record information in meetings.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • 3 years' experience.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
  • Knowledge of military and Veteran populations.
