Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a dedicated, forward looking Senior Financial Analyst to support digital transformation within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This individual will work with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), VA Central Office (VACO) or the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to support the administration's mission with activities such as: project, product and product line management; moving from waterfall management processes to Agile and Scaled Agile practices; and from stove-piped development, delivery and operations processes to DevSecOps best practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). We are seeking individuals committed to delivering and improving quality services to Veterans.

Primary Responsibilities

A Senior Financial Analyst must have experience in creating strategically tailored financial plans. Must have experience in conducting targeted review of status and identify points of risks. Must have experience in identifying alternative strategies for addressing risk. Hard core analysis, fact verification, study and research are all parts of the financial analyst job, as well as planning and decision making on financial analysis. Must be proficient in some or all responsibilities:

  • Analyzing financial data.
  • Preparing accounting and other required reports and projections based on the analysis performed.
  • Evaluating capital expenditures and asset depreciation.
  • Establishing and evaluating records, statements, and profit plans.
  • Identifying financial performance trends and financial risk and making recommendations.
  • Providing recommendations for improvement based on trends.
  • Coordinating with other members of the finance team, such as a risk analyst when required to review financial information and forecasts.
  • Providing financial models.
  • Making financial forecasts.
  • Analyzing inventory.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business discipline is required.
    (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.).
  • 10 years related experience required
  • Must have proven experience in the financial industry-preferably within the federal government
  • Must have experience in creating strategically tailored financial plans.
  • Must have experience in conducting targeted review of status and identify points of risk, what-if analysis.
  • Must have experience in identifying alternative strategies for addressing risk.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Outstanding presentation, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Proven knowledge of financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance, and information analysis.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Deep understanding of the financial system and institutions.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
  • Knowledge of military and Veteran populations.
