Job Summary
Aptive is seeking a dedicated, forward looking DevOps Manager to support digital transformation within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This individual will work with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), VA Central Office (VACO) or the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to support the administration's mission with activities such as: project, product and product line management; moving from waterfall management processes to Agile and Scaled Agile practices; and from stove-piped development, delivery and operations processes to DevSecOps best practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). We are seeking individuals committed to delivering and improving quality services to Veterans.
Primary Responsibilities
The DevOps Manager manages service delivery and website/systems reliability and scalability including reporting, configuration and build, testing, planning, and deployment of solutions and will be accountable for all aspects of deployment and technical operations including technical project resources (partners/subcontractors or staff), scheduling, risk management, internal and external communications, status reporting, and resource management (internal and partners). Must be proficient in some or all responsibilities:

- Consulting with management on the operational requirements of software solutions.
- Contributing expertise on information system options, risk, and operational impact.
- Mentoring junior software developers in gaining experience and assuming DevOps responsibilities.
- Managing the installation and configuration of solutions.
- Collaborating with developers on software requirements, as well as interpreting test stage data.
- Developing interface simulators and designing automated module deployments.
- Completing code and script updates, as well as resolving product implementation errors.
- Overseeing routine maintenance procedures and performing diagnostic tests.
- Documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics.
- Conforming to best practices in network administration and cybersecurity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Operations Research or Related Fields is required.
(8-10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education) - 5 years related experience required.
- Expert knowledge of cloud environment configuration: AWS, Azure, Google, etc.
- Extensive experience in DevOps engineering, team management, and collaboration.
- Ability to oversee and mentor junior software developers, as well as report to management on their progress.
- Ability to install and configure software, gather test-stage data, and perform de-bugging.
- Ability to keep up with software development trends and innovation.
- Excellent management, communications, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong customer interaction skills and a demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders-including government Senior Executives-across multiple tasks.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as Python and Java and writing code and scripts.
- Ability to ensure smooth software deployment by writing script updates and running diagnostics.
- Proficiency in documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics.
- Advanced knowledge of best practices related to data encryption and cybersecurity.
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
- Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.

- Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
