Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a dedicated, forward looking Senior Functional Area Analyst to support digital transformation within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This individual will work with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), VA Central Office (VACO) or the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to support the administration's mission with activities such as: project, product and product line management; moving from waterfall management processes to Agile and Scaled Agile practices; and from stove-piped development, delivery and operations processes to DevSecOps best practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). We are seeking individuals committed to delivering and improving quality services to Veterans.

Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Functional Area Analyst must have considerable experience with the analysis of business, functional, technical, activities, and events. Analyst is responsible for working with users and customers to document and strategize for process improvements for current business processes (business process reengineering). Responsible for providing market research on conditions that impact the overall operational efficiency of an organization and identifying symptoms for process improvement. Must have deep knowledge of process and risks. Must be proficient in some or all responsibilities:

  • The Functional Area Analyst is skilled in data science, capable of diving deep into data, doing analysis, discovering root causes, and designing long-term data solutions
  • Manages invoices for payment from large, contracted vendors supporting healthcare for veterans
  • The Analyst will work with users and customers to document and strategize process improvements for current business processes (business process reengineering) and is responsible for providing market research on conditions that impact the overall operational efficiency of the organization, while identifying symptoms for process improvement


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Degree In Engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline is required.
    (10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.).
  • 10 years related experience required
  • Must have considerable experience with the analysis of business, functional, technical, activities, and events
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Ability to work with users and customers to document and strategize for process improvements for current business processes
  • Provides market research on conditions that impact the overall operational efficiency of an organization
  • Identifies symptoms for process improvement
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
  • Knowledge of military and Veteran populations.
