Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a dedicated, forward looking Emerging Technology Expert to support digital transformation within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This individual will work with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), VA Central Office (VACO) or the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to support the administration's mission with activities such as: project, product and product line management; moving from waterfall management processes to Agile and Scaled Agile practices; and from stove-piped development, delivery and operations processes to DevSecOps best practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). We are seeking individuals committed to delivering and improving quality services to Veterans.

Primary Responsibilities

An Emerging Technology Expert conducts workflow analysis, technology assessments, and business-related studies to define business case plans and architecture strategies supporting long term sustainability and growth. The expert provides guidance and strategy for adoption of innovative technology products and processes optimizing developer, customer, and end-user experience. Must be proficient in some or all responsibilities:

  • Conduct workflow analysis, technology assessments and business-related studies to define business case plans and architecture strategies that support long term sustainability and growth.
  • Provide guidance and strategy for adoption of innovative technology products and processes optimizing developer, customer and end-user experience.
  • Understand the competitive marketplace, business issues and data challenges to deliver actionable insights, recommendations and business processes.
  • Supervise and perform complex, technical and creative predictive modeling projects.
  • Effectively communicate results, insights and recommendations in written, oral and presentation formats to technical and non-technical audiences.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Resource Management, Industrial Engineering, or Related Fields is required.
    (5-7 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education. Or Certifications in relevant technology plus 3-5 years of relevant experience)
  • 7 years related experience required.
  • Proven ability to lead and drive complex projects and assignments to completion through others and effectively engage talent.
  • Excellent management, communications, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong customer interaction skills and a demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders-including government Senior Executives-across multiple tasks.
  • Experience developing and delivering compelling, informative, and well written prose is a requirement, as is the ability to manage the editing and coordination among diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Creative thinker with an affinity for innovation and problem-solving.
  • Excellent oral communication skills, should be able to communicate at all levels of the organization, lead discussions and drive decisions.
  • Ability to conduct market research and present findings.
  • Impeccable organizational skills.
  • Master's Degree or certifications in management or related technology fields.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
  • Knowledge of military and Veteran populations.
