Job Summary

Aptive Resources is seeking a Project Manager with a strong background in strategic communications and education and outreach initiatives to support the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The Project Manager will support CMS' mission of detecting and reducing fraud, waste, and abuse, and identifying and preventing improper payments in CMS programs.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented Project Manager with previous experience leading government contracts. They will be highly organized, collaborative, systematic, and proactive in managing quality and exceeding client expectations within a fast-paced environment.

The Project Manager is a proactive problem solver who works well both independently and as part of a team. The candidate must be committed to providing superior customer service and have a positive and flexible attitude. They excel when presenting to clients and are comfortable receiving and implementing feedback on project tasks. They will develop, lead, track, and support program communications across a variety of platforms, and they will ensure themes, messages and desired outcomes are consistent across communication channels.

The Project Manager should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the statutory requirements of Medicare and Medicaid programs in the areas of healthcare program integrity.

This is a Senior-level, full-time position located in Alexandria, VA. This position may also be remote.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall project quality and program success.
  • Responsible for effectively executing the intent of project and agency objectives through understanding project needs and tailoring work to meet those needs.
  • Responsible for demonstrating exemplary strategic communication and problem-solving skills with business owners, peers, management, and contract staff. Responsible for making all operational and staffing decisions.
  • Responsible for adhering to all contractual timelines and overseeing that all contract tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for providing executive direction to contract staff to assure that all contract requires are met.
  • Responsible for interfacing, both orally and via written communication, with the Government and contractor management in the planning and control of this project.
  • Responsible for advising CMS of any difficulties arising from the administration of the contract.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience managing large-scale projects related to health care benefits.
  • 7+ years of firsthand experience with program integrity initiatives in Center for Program Integrity (CPI).
  • Master's degree in management, business administration, marketing, events management, or public relations.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Consulting experience supporting large, complex Cabinet-level federal agencies.
  • Availability to work full time in Alexandria, V.A. and/or a telework environment.
