Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Clinical SME to work on federal projects involving Medicare payment. The Clinical SME shall possess experience in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, and/or medical practice. The candidate should have a working knowledge of the Medicare program, particularly a high-level understanding of coverage and payment rules, and some experience with the review of Medicare claims. It is preferable that the clinician also have experience with adult learning theories and/or change management models.

This senior level, full-time position is located in Alexandria, VA. This position may also be remote.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assisting in managing individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Creating training content for various clinical and non-clinical audiences.
  • Creating and updating project-related documentation such as, job aids, special reports, or any other documents.
  • Informing virtual educational training programs to improve the expertise of health professionals.
  • Directing the development and implementation of educational training (eLearning) programs to improve the expertise of a health care workforce
  • Delivering educational trainings based on adult education learning principles, and stays abreast on the best practices for adult learning
  • Developing and revising content for healthcare related training courses, and prepares appropriate training materials
  • Executing change management initiatives to develop future training efforts.
  • Translating clinical information for non-clinical audiences.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years of work experience; 5 years of which were within a health care environment as an accredited, credentialed, and/or certified provider of clinical services (e.g., registered nurse, therapist, LPN, social worker)
  • Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Background in Medicare policies, medical review, and health professional education.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Thorough understanding of the clinical healthcare environment.
  • Strong hands-on analytical, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
