Job Summary

Aptive is currently seeking a Aerospace Engineering & Operations Technician MRS-HC-144 to support our Mission Support Services business line, on a program for the United States Coast Guard (USCG)

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) provides centralized logistics support for all USCG aviation missions. As the sole industrial complex for USCG aviation, ALC provides: depot level maintenance, engineering, supply, procurement, acquisition, and information services. ALC's mission supports twenty-five (25) USCG aviation units that operate approximately two hundred (200) aircraft. These air stations are located throughout the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Additionally, ALC supports USCG Headquarters, Aviation Technical Training Center (ATTC), and USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC). Technical Support Services are required to support the mission of ALC in various divisions: Engineering Services Division (ESD), Operational Division (OPS), Medium Range Surveillance (MRS), Medium Range Recovery (MRR), Long Range Surveillance (LRS), Safety and Environmental Health Office (SEHO), and the Support Equipment (SE). Other ALC divisions may be added at a later date.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide Aeronautical Engineering technical management, Government POC(s) areMRS Lead Engineer and Engineering Officer.
    • Research HC-144 Engineering projects and provide final designand/or re- design solutions to include initial prototype and engineering data for substantiation reports.
    • Ascertain the structural classification of aircraft structurally damagedareas IAW 1C-144A-3, 51-00-00.
    • Create a structural damage map report for proposal to AIRBUS Defense & Space. At a minimum, the report shall include technical informationfrom the 1C-144A-3. Determine structural classification is Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, or Fatigue Critical Basic Structure (FCBS).
    • Complete airframe structural repair plans to include develop repairscheme or modification that maintains or exceeds OEM structural design criteria.
    • Prepare engineering technical memos to include correspondencedocumenting technical/engineering issues for OEM assistance and responses for technical assistance requests.
  • Manage Propulsion Systems
    • Liaison directly with Collins Aero Field Service Representative (FSR), MRS Lead Engineer, Engineering Officer, designated governmentrepresentative or product line COR for all fleet engine problems.
    • Response and provide advice on maintenance status/release-ability for fleet technical requests to include determination of serviceability and/ordisposition of fleet propulsion systems.
  • Manage Power Plant Systems
    • Liaison directly with GE engine Field Service Representative (FSR), MRS Lead Engineer, Engineering Officer, designated governmentrepresentative or product line COR for all fleet engine EnsureFleet Lead Engineer is briefed on technical problems as well as supply related constraints for spare engines.
    • Review all spare, repaired, and overhauled engines for properdocumentation, SCHR entries, and USCG MRL scheduled maintenance requirements.
    • Attend monthly GE meetings and program


  • Response and provide advice on status/release-ability to fleet technical requests to include determination of serviceability and/or disposition offleet power plant systems.
  • Responsible for all task related to Logistics Analyst sections 1.4 and5.6 of this PWS.
  • Provide Technical Management and Support of AIRBUS and OEM Service Bulletinsand
    • Review and provide recommendations to implement applicable ServiceBulletins via USCG Time Compliant Technical Order (TCTO) to HC-144Fleet and Depot
    • Review all spare, repaired, and overhauled propeller parts for proper technical documentation, SCHR entries, and USCG MaintenanceRequirements List (MRL) scheduled maintenance requirements.
    • Ensure TCTO's are developed accurately and monitor progressionduring publication process and fleet implementation.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years airframe and power plant maintenance
  • Minimum of three (3) years in aircraft maintenance management of airframe andpower
  • Minimum of four (4) years of demonstrated minimum experience of aircraftfleet management to include safety of flight release determination.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of aviation engineering concepts, principles, and Problems encountered demand skill sufficient to modify standard practices, adapt precedents, and make significant departures from existing approaches and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ten (10) years knowledge and experience of the CN-235 and HC-144 Airframe. May be substituted by fixed wing and turbo prop experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan and carry out assignments, interpretspolicy, coordinates work with others, resolves most of the conflicts that arise, and keeps the supervisor informed of far-reaching implications. Completed work is reviewed from an overall standpoint in terms of feasibility, and effectiveness in meeting requirements.
  • Experience providing onsite technical support for approved prototype and installationof system modifications, assess and resolve reliability and maintainability problems and provide technical interface between vendors and operational/field activities.
