Job Summary

Aptive is currently seeking a Research Analyst-MRR to support our Mission Support Services business line, on a program for the United States Coast Guard (USCG)

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) provides centralized logistics support for all USCG aviation missions. As the sole industrial complex for USCG aviation, ALC provides: depot level maintenance, engineering, supply, procurement, acquisition, and information services. ALC's mission supports twenty-five (25) USCG aviation units that operate approximately two hundred (200) aircraft. These air stations are located throughout the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Additionally, ALC supports USCG Headquarters, Aviation Technical Training Center (ATTC), and USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC). Technical Support Services are required to support the mission of ALC in various divisions: Engineering Services Division (ESD), Operational Division (OPS), Medium Range Surveillance (MRS), Medium Range Recovery (MRR), Long Range Surveillance (LRS), Safety and Environmental Health Office (SEHO), and the Support Equipment (SE). Other ALC divisions may be added at a later date.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor changes to OEM, USCG and other services technical directives relating to logistics support (e.g., maintenance , technical data, support and test equipment,facilities, supply support, packaging, handling, storage, transportation, training, training devices and computer resources, design interface (e.g., reliability, maintainability, availability, safety, human factors, commonality, modularity, system architecture)), configuration management and deficiencies for applicability to USCG aircraft and submit recommendations for action to the applicable engineering cell leader for Government action. Act on Government recommendations. Track and provide status of approved recommendations through implementation.
  • Conduct market research to collect and assemble information including, but not limited to, technical data packages, price, availability, quality initiatives in relation to ANSI and ISO 9000 requirements, source approval and validation process, vendor capabilities, vendor past Market research may include sitesurveys to verify information previously assembled. Coordinate own efforts with Government's for additional site surveys.
  • Write, review and update policy, procedure and process documents, including,but not limited to: technical manuals, COMDTINST, MPCs, TCTOs, SICRs, ESRs, SRs, PQDRs, ACCB requests and process guides, IAW applicable ALC and USCG documented guidelines and generally accepted commercial ormilitary maintenance or design processes.
  • Generate SICRs for applicable aircraft Submit each SICR withbackup documentation to the Government IAW ALCINST 5213.1 (series).
  • Generate TCTOs for applicable aircraft sub-systems, assemblies, and /orparts IAW CGTP PG-85-00-40-A. Assist in validation and verification of TCTO.
  • Assist in reviewing ACCB packages IAW CGTO PG-85-00-70-
  • Execute Service Requests IAW Service Request Responsibilities andProcedures, ALCINST 13020.11 (series).
  • Write MPCs that will enable technicians to properly sustain the aircraft IAW CGTOPG- 85-00-230-A.
  • Write engineering specifications, including schematics and figures thatdocument approved depot-level repairs and processes.
  • Review CG-22s recommendations for change to aeronautical publications that are submitted via the ATIP for applicability, relevance and technical requirements.Submit recommendations for action or Government acceptance. Act on approved recommendations IAW CGTO PG-85-00-230-A, CGTO PG-85-00-23-A, CGTOPG-85- 00-110-A and COMDTINST M13020.1 (series).
  • Review drafts of technical publications and technical drawings, includingwiring diagrams, for content and format.
  • Participate in meetings for technical, production or programmatic
  • Provide data on an ad hoc basis, including, but not limited to, serial numbers of equipment in new aircraft or equipment that will be inducted in ALMIS,information available in ALMIS and aircraft specifications contained in existing documents or sources


Minimum Qualifications

  • Able to locate, monitor and evaluate other services' and OEM technical changedirectives within maintenance, engineering and logistics disciplines for applicability to USCG aircraft or support systems for direct or indirect application to the applicable aircraft program and provide logically justified recommended action.
  • Experience developing and writing maintenance cards, including schematics and
  • Experience submitting aeronautical publication change recommendationsto correct/update MPCs and other publications.
  • Experience writing engineering specifications including schematics and figures forthe express purpose of documenting approved depot level repairs and processes.
  • Knowledge of routing maintenance task processes for
  • Able to read and interpret manufacturer and blue prints and technical drawingsand understand engineering specifications to resolve engineering technical questions.
  • Experience working on complex projects that require thorough research andcoordination with engineering personnel.
  • Experience researching and analyzing information provided in an aircraft'smaintenance
  • Ten (10) years of H-60 maintenance Maintenance experience includeseither mechanic or engineering technician positions.


Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience with the Coast Guard highly preferred
