Aptive is currently seeking a Safety Specialist to support our Mission Support Services business line, on a program for the United States Coast Guard (USCG)

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) provides centralized logistics support for all USCG aviation missions. As the sole industrial complex for USCG aviation, ALC provides: depot level maintenance, engineering, supply, procurement, acquisition, and information services. ALC's mission supports twenty-five (25) USCG aviation units that operate approximately two hundred (200) aircraft. These air stations are located throughout the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Additionally, ALC supports USCG Headquarters, Aviation Technical Training Center (ATTC), and USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC). Technical Support Services are required to support the mission of ALC in various divisions: Engineering Services Division (ESD), Operational Division (OPS), Medium Range Surveillance (MRS), Medium Range Recovery (MRR), Long Range Surveillance (LRS), Safety and Environmental Health Office (SEHO), and the Support Equipment (SE). Other ALC divisions may be added at a later date.

Primary Responsibilities
- Plans, schedules and conducts routine safety inspections, to identify potentialhazards in the workplace, to include environmental conditions, machine andequipment operations, protective devices and equipment, work practices and safety procedures, to ensure compliance with safety, fire and other standards.
- Provide facilities inspection services to cover any safety issues regulated under 29 CFR Parts 1910 and 1926 to include reviewing equipment and buildingconstruction plans and drawings during the design and scope phases to ensure safety compliance.
- Apply knowledge of safety standards and fire protection codes to detect hazardous conditions and recommend safety measures and workplace processes to eliminate or minimize to a safe level the possibility of injury to personnel, damage to property and hazardous working conditions.
- Apply knowledge of safety requirements pertaining to compressed gases, flammable, radiological, laser, biological and chemical hazards to pinpoint causative factors contributing to accidents and resulting in dangerous working conditions and determine compliance and develop effective controls of work andequipment hazards resulting from new construction or modification of current facilities.
- Investigate and analyze military and civilian accidents and hazardous conditions to determine origin, causes, contributing elements and preventative measures. Prepare written evaluation reports containing findings, statistics, discussions and recommendations of each condition to include changes inoperating procedures, local regulations and use of protective equipment or devices.
- Attend safety meetings and provide safety support to various product lines and Divisions by researching standards and providing appropriate responses on safetyrelated
- Assist in development, implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 andprovide training as such, at no additional cost to government.
- Provide safety education through safety meetings to work supervisors, workleaders and employees covering all aspects of safety and participates in preparing brochures and newsletters that explain safety procedures and practices.
- Collect, enter, retrieve, process, assemble and review documents, date andrecords, from automated and manual systems or databases, ensuring completeness and authenticity of records. Arrange tabulated data and performediting functions in Observe suspense dates, deadlines, and timeliness in work.

- xParticipate in development, implementation and sustainment of ISO 45001 andOSHA 18001 safety systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of working experience applying federal OSHAregulations and consensus standards as they apply to:
- Health and Safety standards for Occupational Safety and Health forGeneral Industry
- Safety and occupational health principles, methods, and standards as itapplies to occupational safety and health.
- Minimum of five (5) working experience with aircraft, associated aircraftsupport systems, and safety and health knowledge as it applies to an aircraft depot level maintenance facility.
- Knowledge and ability to apply OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 principles topertinent industrial hazards.
- Knowledge of ANSI, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), AmericanStandard Test Method (ASTM) and other applicable consensus standard as it relates to occupational safety and health.
- Completion of OSHA 30-hour general industry course or
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 Safety Management System as related to occupational safety and health and be able towrite con-conformances/non-compliances that identify issues, determine rootcause, and to respond to them with corrective action plans.
- Ability to perform activities related to inspecting such as walking, climbing,bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, etc.
- Ability to inspect and operate work related industrial
- Must have a valid state driver's license
