Program Manager, Retail Marketing

Capital One is seeking a Program Manager to join the Retail Marketing team. Our retail network, consisting of Capital One Cafes and branches, is the physical manifestation of our brand. The retail marketing team is responsible for the curation and execution of telling brand and product stories across this network. This team sits at the intersection of brand, marketing, operations, project management, tech and fabrication responsibilities.

We're seeking a Program Manager to establish and lead an end-to-end marketing program that includes multiple projects, experiences, and channels. This high profile manager role requires an expert program manager that can balance strategy and execution, and possesses experience supporting marketing and/or retail teams.

Ideal Candidate
  • Builds a culture of inclusiveness and empowerment with their own team and partners
  • Balances big-picture strategic thinking with detailed execution and operations
  • Bring organization to complex initiatives that includes multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Leads peers, partners, and vendors in executing plans on time and on budget
  • Considers themselves as much a marketer as they are a program manager
  • Possess strong strategic, analytical, and creative capabilities to generate and build the case for transformative marketing ideas that drive forward business objectives
  • Has a passion for customer experience and understands the needs and behaviors that influence customer journeys across in-retail ecosystems

Primary Responsibilities
  • Organize existing and new retail marketing projects and initiatives into an enduring program that ultimately produces best-in-class customer experiences
  • Develop and maintain documents, tools, and meetings that cross-functional teams use for coordinating work (i.e. timelines, trackers, and status update resources)
  • Proactively identify roadblocks and challenges, and lead the contingency plans required to navigate
  • Be a primary point of contact for partner teams, including operations, design, research & analysis, brand, and others
  • Day-to-day management and coordination with multiple marketing agencies and production vendors
  • Assist with the on-going quantification and qualification of overall program success and impact, and identify how to use past performance to optimize future work
  • Utilize strong presentation and communication skills to share program updates with a wide range of audiences, from senior leadership to frontline teams
  • Manage the program's overall budget and coordinate budget discussions with project owners

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of program, project, or process management experience
  • At least 3 years experience with agile principles, project management methodologies and tools

Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of program management experience
  • 2+ years of supporting marketing, retail, design and/or advertising agency teams
  • Experience working with marketing agencies, production vendors, and creative/design teams
  • Familiarity with basic marketing strategies, principals, and channels
  • Proven experience developing and executing large-scale integrated marketing campaigns across a range of channels
  • Project Management (PMP) or Program Management (PgMP) certification
