Job Announcement

Works as part of the Department of Information Technology’s (DIT) Court Technology Office (CrTO) Applications Branch team. The CrTO Applications Branch provides development and support of locally developed, COTS/Vendor-customized, and State-managed applications utilized by our courts and law enforcement customers. Provide customer access support, troubleshooting of user help desk requests, and application testing for State applications utilized by our JDRDC customers. Monitor and test the system to support the daily operations of and access to the State-managed applications used by Fairfax County Court customers.

Performs duties working with the DIT CrTO Network team and help desk, the Court technology team, the programmers on the applications team, and reach back resources in DIT headquarters including the DIT IT help desk and other platform technology group teams. Provides Tier-I and Tier-II network support. Serves as a liaison to the Supreme Court of Virginia technology staff to maintain State-managed applications for Fairfax Courts. Acts as a technical specialist in troubleshooting and incident management during service interruptions. Works in coordination with support teams providing Court applications and technologies end user assistance. Assists in resolving complex issues that involve network management tools such as packet analyzers and performance monitors. Serves as a point of contact between the network support and other internal departments. Assists in documentation of network diagrams, inventory and changes.

Note: Position is deemed “MISSION ESSENTIAL” and not eligible for remote telework. Mission Essential staff are required to report to the Courthouse to perform their job duties. Performs other duties as assigned.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Possession of an associate degree in computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field; plus two years network and/or telecommunications experience; or a bachelor's degree in such fields.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two or more years of progressively, hands-on experience in medium-to-large enterprise IT support, server management, or audio/video network design and implementation. Proficiency in hardware/software troubleshooting in the Windows desktop and server environments and experience with end user training and support.
  • Experience with cloud and/or local data storage solutions, security, and data recovery.
  • Project support skills with ability to assist management to plan, schedule, coordinate and manage construction, renovation, and special projects; ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills, willingness to learn and demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift and install moderately heavy items, up to 50 pounds, such as desktop computers, monitors, printers, AV equipment, and other hardware peripherals necessary to perform requirements of the position. Visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor, must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment. Requires ability to work with tools and test equipment, ability to move and transport telecommunications equipment. Ability to distinguish colors.
