The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) is making a difference in our community by providing services to individuals who have mental illness, emotional disturbance, substance use disorders, and/or developmental disabilities. This position serves to help ensure that the work that is being done meets quality and compliance standards set through federal, state, and local regulations as well as internal CSB policies.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Developing standardized quality assurance tools for the systematic review of services to meet federal, state and local requirements.
  • Monitoring clinical documentation and capturing data and measuring compliance with all regulatory requirements using chart review tools.
  • Building relationships with clinical staff to better serve as an onsite expert on quality and compliance issues.
  • Provide research findings and recommendations related to federal, state, and local requirements, as well as evidence/best practice issue that emerge.
  • Assist and/or lead internal investigations related to federal, state, and local requirements, most often associated with potential human rights issues.
  • Assist with developing corrective action plans to meet federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Assist with the submission of serious incident reporting, to include support to on-call rotation.
The ideal candidate will have extensive quality improvement and behavioral health chart review experience; be detail oriented; have a teambuilding approach to working with others; have good time management and customer service skills; and be able to meet the demands of an ever-changing health care environment.

Multiple positions located at various CSB sites with varied shift hours will be filled from this advertisement.

Illustrative Duties

  • Performs a wide-range of professional work in multiple administration functions within an organizational unit including analysis and project management;
  • May supervise administrative and paraprofessional staff;
  • Performs a variety of technical and professional work related to monitoring and reporting on departmental business processes, activities, and outcomes;
  • Plans, develops, and implements comprehensive communication and education plans on programs and services for both county agencies and community organizations;
  • Assists with developing and conducting special studies and research initiatives, by designing survey instruments, gathering data and information from department staff, developing data analysis tools, conducting statistical analyses, initiating literature reviews, etc.;
  • Conducts analysis and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data in order to track and monitor various business process indicators;
  • Serves as the point-person and liaison within the department and with central county departments regarding a designated program and functional areas of responsibility;
  • Prepares reports and presentations of analysis and findings.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus two years of professional work experience within the functional area.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry, a driving record check, and a sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. Tuberculosis test upon hire and annually thereafter.

This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in behavioral health related field, nursing, or business administration preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in behavioral healthcare setting, including experience with medically complex behavioral healthcare individuals, chart reviews, targeted reviews, quality improvement experience, root cause analysis, meeting tight deadlines, and expertise with the use of an electronic health record and Microsoft Office Suite.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel throughout the county for CSB meetings; stand, sit, and walk as needed to perform core job functions; lift up to 25 pounds; and attend meetings after dark. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
