Senior Associate, Capital Markets and Risk

Capital One is seeking a motivated professional for a Senior Associate position within the Finance Risk Management (FRM) team. FRM associates are engaged and insightful risk management partners working across the Finance organization to execute robust and proactive risk management programs, improve effectiveness and efficiency of operation while reducing risk and influencing risk stakeholders, risk offices, compliance, internal audit, and regulators. FRM strives to enable a strong culture of risk management across Finance that is adaptable to a changing environment.

In this specific role, you will build and execute the Finance payments governance framework by engaging with teams across the Finance organization that originate and execute mission critical corporate payments. Additionally, you will work with teams across the company to ensure we have a well-managed enterprise payments program.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the Finance organization's adherence to internal policies and standards related payment activities, including payment origination, initiation and execution.
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate within and beyond FRM to mature our payments risk and control practices and governance.
  • Collaborate with partner teams on issues and events investigation, root cause analysis and suggested remediation actions.
  • Engage with risk partners to ensure alignment on enterprise guidance, standards and policies.
  • Synthesize information from disparate sources in a manner that enables FRM to influence business, product and tech leaders to make grounded, risk-based decisions.
  • Report on the health of payment programs assigned, ensure sufficient awareness and transparency to leadership.
  • Develop and maintain documentation to include procedures and presentation materials.
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of audit and regulatory exams as they pertain to responsible areas.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in a Financial Services Industry
  • At least 1 year of Risk Management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of Risk Management practice.
  • Working functional knowledge of money movement capabilities for High Value, Low Value and Instant Payments.
  • Working knowledge of correspondent banking structure and nostro/vostro accounts
  • Working knowledge of global clearing and market infrastructures (FED, CHIPS, CHAPS, SWIFT, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of transaction life cycles of payment products and solutions (e.g. wires, ACH, check and money transfers)
  • Working knowledge in financial operations, including settlement operations, reconciliation, and exception processing.
  • Prior experience with risk reporting and issue management

  • Strong critical thinking with an ability to flex among and balance changing priorities.
  • Prior experience working effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Google Suite.
