Job Description
The Washington Post's newsroom recruiting team is seeking a temporary administrative assistant to help manage the scheduling of candidate interviews, along with other administrative tasks related to the recruiting and hiring of journalists. This assistant will play an integral role in assuring the success of our current newsroom expansion efforts. This is a full-time, contract position that is based in our Washington newsroom and will last for approximately six months.

Job Description
The Washington Post's newsroom recruiting team is seeking a temporary administrative assistant to help manage the scheduling of candidate interviews, along with other administrative tasks related to the recruiting and hiring of journalists. This assistant will play an integral role in assuring the success of our current newsroom expansion efforts. This is a full-time, contract position that is based in our Washington newsroom and will last for approximately six months.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with executive assistants and hiring managers to build timely schedules for candidates to interview with top editors and newsroom staff
- Communicate directly with candidates and help ensure their questions are answered
- Track and help manage the preparation of candidate materials for interviewers
- Assist the newsroom recruiting team, as needed, with the preparation and/or distribution of job descriptions and new-hire announcements
Qualifications:
- At least two years of prior experience as an administrative assistant or executive assistant
- Strong written and communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Expert-level familiarity with Outlook's Scheduling Assistant tool
- General familiarity with Zoom, Dropbox and Slack
- A desire to make a meaningful contribution to the mission of The Washington Post's newsroom
