Our client in the legal industry is seeking an IP Patent Docketing Specialist to assist their patent docketing needs. The IP Patent Docketing Specialist will handle docketing for US, International and foreign patent matters as well as new matters transferred to the law firm. If this sounds like you, we are looking for someone with Patricia software experience and advanced foreign patent docketing experience is highly preferred.

Job Requirements

Qualified candidate must be able to:
  • Review and analyze all incoming documents and correspondence related to US and foreign patent prosecution
  • Reconcile as-filed documents, acknowledgement receipts, attorney comments and incoming/outgoing communication against docketed deadlines in order to clear docketed items
  • Monitor departmental email account for incoming communications and make appropriate docket updates
  • Prepare system reports and customized queries upon request from attorneys or other staff
  • Research and resolve docketing inaccuracies and answer questions related to the docket
  • Assist with reconciliation of audit reports and maintenance of database records;
  • Assist with other IP related tasks, as necessary

  • B.A./B.S. degree is preferred. Related work experience may be used in lieu of formal education
  • Prior law firm experience required
  • 2-7 years patent docketing experience using a computerized docket system is required. Patricia experience and advanced foreign patent docketing experience is highly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic/foreign patent prosecution procedures, terminology and deadlines is required
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills and attention to detail are required
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Strong proofreading and reading comprehension skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adjust quickly to changing priorities while maintaining a high level of productivity
  • Typing at least 30 wpm
  • Proficiency in use of office software, including Word, Excel and Outlook are helpful
  • Flexibility for overtime required
