Data & Analytics leverages business intelligence gained through advanced data analytics in order to maximize AARP's marketing and communications results. This includes using data science, data engineering, predictive modeling, and market analytics to guide data driven decision making.

The Data Scientist II works with large and complex data sets to solve a wide array of challenging problems using different analytical and statistical approaches. Builds predictive models with different Machine Learning algorithms with the most efficiency to help internal clients to generate accurate, and more valuable campaign targeting strategies. Deploys models using Databricks MLflow and Model Registration functions with regular job scheduling and fully automation. Works cross functionally with other data scientists, data engineers, campaign managers to bring predictive models to the forefront of marketing decision making on hundreds of millions promotable universes including members and non-members.

The Data Scientist II helps set the vision, direction and provide insights for state-of-the-art statistical and econometric models, algorithms and logic to improve the effectiveness of programs and the execution of business plans across the organization. Collaborates with integrated marketing team and digital team to measure success of product/program launching through incremental analysis, attribution analysis or A/B testing. Automates the modeling and analytical processes with the minimum cost. Work with engineers on monitoring job run time and cluster configuration.

Responsibilities

  • Write code proficiently to generate answers to analytic inquiries
  • Manage intake and output process for technical and non-technical internal audiences requesting analytic projects
  • Perform key analytic activities (test design/evaluations, incrementality/attribution, journey analytics, etc.) to generate insights
  • Build core data science products, including statistical models, complex reports and/or data visualizations
  • Employ modern data science techniques, such as machine learning
  • Utilize data engineering procedures to feature engineer, move data, and productionalize/automate products

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of related experience including academia and industry.
  • Experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL). Proficiency with Python required.
  • Experience with fundamental statistical analysis.
  • Proven analytical ability and strategic business and product development/management skills.
  • Excellent oral/written presentation skills; proficiency in preparation and presentation of proposals, analytical reports, and modeling performances.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise

Preferred:
  • Pyspark.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services and big data.
  • Attribution analysis and A/B testing.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
