Outreach Coordinator (Part-Time)The George Mason University Department of History and Art History is seeking a dependable, well-organized, detail-oriented Outreach Coordinator to serve as a key department administrative professional, independently managing several critical administrative projects and tasks for various constituents within and outside the History and Art History Department, in a prompt, accurate, and efficient manner.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity. We maintain a reputation for excellence in traditional subfields as well as in the cutting-edge areas of digital and public history.Responsibilities:The person in this position reports to the department Office Manager. Primary duties include:Department receptionist answering phone calls, monitoring department voicemail, and assisting visitors and students;Manages various department administrative tasks to include items such as key control, space utilization, department contact lists and mailboxes, supply tracking, work orders, and syllabi collection and publication;Serves as the department travel coordinator managing pre-approvals and reimbursements, remaining current on state and university policies;Acts as the communication coordinator, managing production of the department newsletter, assisting the office manager with student awards, and updating the staff and faculty listings on the department website;Assists faculty search committees with document management and distribution of information;Serves as the department's Equipment Liaison managing and tracking the department's equipment inventory and assisting faculty with computer issues;Serves as the department's Records Management Coordinator;Manages the desk copy process for instructional faculty; andHandles any ad hoc projects assigned by the Office Manager.Required Qualifications:A bachelor's degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required;Detail-oriented with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously;Strong written and oral communication skills;Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and with using web-conferencing software (e.g. Zoom, MS Teams);Strong problem-solving skills;Experience communicating and interacting with constituents across levels of organization; andAbility to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate in a robust team environment.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a higher education academic department setting.
