Operations Manager - Enterprise Wire Ops

The mission of Enterprise Wire Operations (EWO) is to seamlessly facilitate each payment story with efficiency, expertise, appropriate risk awareness and due diligence. EWO has accountability for both inbound and outbound payment processing for multiple Lines of Business (LoBs) across Capital One. The Wire Fulfillment team is responsible for the opening and closing of our Federal Reserve and Swift gateways in alignment with all domestic and international wire processing, while also managing wire exceptions throughout the day. The Wire Investigations team is responsible for managing inbound and outbound service messages, including tracers, recalls, amendments, returns, wire copies and shortfall/auto convert requests. This team is also responsible for managing our customer claims process. EWO is seeking an experienced, results-driven, autonomous leader of both the Wire Fulfillment and Wire Investigations teams who is passionate about challenging the status quo. The individual in this role will lead our Richmond & Melville associates, while collaborating with senior leadership and numerous partners across the enterprise to deliver exceptional service while continually looking to transform the customer's payment experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for leadership of 15 associates across our Richmond & Melville locations w/ hours of operation from 6:15am - 7:30pm eastern, Monday through Friday
  • Actively develop, manage and coach direct reports on a daily basis
  • Act to ensure all department service levels are met or exceeded
  • Works with partner groups within product management and customer servicing groups across commercial, small business and retail lines of business to problem solve complex issues and drive process change
  • Utilize a process-focused, growth mindset to improve, further mature, and streamline the business and customer payment experience
  • Recommend process improvements with the team and department and may represent product or process area on projects of a cross-functional/cross location scale
  • Ensure processes are governed by comprehensive, documented procedures and management routines that are aligned with corporate policies, standards, and best practices
  • Analyzes and evaluates operational procedures, recommends and implements modifications to improve quality and efficiency
  • Understand and convey regulatory applicability to our processes so that risks and mitigating controls may be accurately documented, designed, and executed
  • Perform periodic self-audits to ensure compliance with internal and external procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Lead departments audit remediation efforts including establishing controls and securing approvals.
  • Maintain process business continuity planning
  • Demonstrate independence in solving complex problems
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment where priorities may shift immediately


Candidates must live within 100 miles of one of our hub sites in Richmond, VA or Melville, VA.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 5 years of People Management experience
  • At least 3 years of Wire Payment experience
  • At least 2 years of Process Management experience
  • At least 2 years of Operational Risk Management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • 7+ years of People Management experience
  • 5+ years of Wire Payment experience
  • 5+ years of Process Management experience
  • 3+ years of Operational Risk Management experience
  • 1+ years experience with LEAN or Six Sigma management methodology
