Tenured Associate Professor - Department of Criminology, Law and Society George Mason University's Department of Criminology, Law and Society invites applicants for a tenured position of Associate Professor to start in August 2023. Our graduate program balances theory, empirical research, and policy applications. Our undergraduate program has concentrations in law and society, criminal justice, and homeland security. Responsibilities:The Department seeks accomplished candidates with a dynamic research agenda who excel in teaching a diverse student body. Associate professors will be expected to be research-active and to publish in peer-reviewed outlets at an expected pace towards promotion to full professor. Associate professors will also be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses, mentor and supervise graduate students, and provide service to the department, college, and university. The teaching load of tenured associate professors in the department is two courses each semester ("2-2"). Faculty may also adjust their teaching load through grant or administrative buyouts.Required Qualifications:Applicants of any expertise related to criminology or law and society will be considered. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a related discipline and must be tenurable at the rank of associate professor at Mason at the time of hire. Please note that candidates seeking promotion to full professor as a condition of hire will not be considered. Candidates may apply for full professor once their employment at Mason has begun, but this position is only available for an associate professor hire.Preferred Qualifications:A program of research expertise in corrections is preferred but not required.
