About the Department:The Advancement division is a comprehensive development and alumni relations enterprise with a staff complement of approximately 135 full-time employees. Functional units within Advancement include development/fundraising, alumni relations, donor relations and stewardship, advancement communications, special events, gift processing, research, prospect management, gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, information systems and management, and infrastructure services.Advancement's mission is to build strong, lifelong relationships with George Mason University's alumni and constituents, while matching their philanthropic interests with the university's aspirations and priorities. Respect, service, integrity, collaboration, diversity, transparency, and creativity are the values that guide our work and culture.This position also offers:Potential for flexible telework and hybrid telework schedulingCompetitive salaryOutstanding benefits include:Health and life insurance, multiple industry-leading retirement plans available including state VRS Hybrid Retirement Plan, accrued paid days off per year, paid holidays, paid winter break, paid sick leave, professional development, tuition reimbursement at GMU, and employee assistance programs.Responsibilities:The CRM/Systems Administrator will support the outreach, engagement, and fundraising activities of George Mason University Foundation and George Mason University by ensuring the security, reliability, and functionality of the Foundation's CRM, systems, and infrastructure.Duties include:Provide support for the Foundation's CRM management, administrative applications, and systems;Respond to user-reported issues and requests;Evaluate business needs and recommend/devise appropriate technical solutions;Develop custom code or modifications to enhance and/or interface with Foundation databases and applications using approved application development tools and practices;Develop and maintain import/export processes for Salesforce integrations and data exchanges between Foundation systems, applications, and other approved parties, and manage batch load processes for the Advance systems;Coordinate testing and approval of all changes with appropriate business unit(s);Manage security and permission protocols and assist in establishing policies to promote data governance best practices and solutions;Administer Foundation Advance systems daily operations; monitor systems and resolve performance issues and other failures;Liaise with vendors as needed for software downloads and support, and with ITU for network and server administration and support;Coordinate upgrades and planned outages with unit directors and/or senior staff;Collaborate with ITU Security Office and network and server support to ensure the physical security of Foundation systems in accordance with federal, state, and University guidelines;Assist AVPs in the administration of audit procedures;Coordinate with Development/Foundation directors in devising user security groups and associated access appropriate to job function;Create/terminate and maintain user accounts and access rights;Collaborate with and train SAS team members to ensure redundancy for all major job functions in the absence of the CRM/Systems Administrator;Serve as a backup trainer for Salesforce and MicroStrategy applications;Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in computer science/information technology, or equivalent experience or training;Demonstrated experience (typically 5+ years) as a Salesforce administrator or database administrator;Experience or ability to learn and administer Oracle and MS SQL server database systems;Demonstrated data management abilities;Ability to drive projects to completion;Thorough understanding and articulation of complex requirements;Ability to meet deadlines, and handle and prioritize simultaneous requests;Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills;Effective communication orally and in writing at all levels of the organization;Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs;Accurately interpret specifications for developing technical solutions;Knowledge of relational database management systems and ability to manipulate data and develop programs for RDBMS;General knowledge of desktop computer applications, operating systems, and hardware;Solid organizational and documentation skills;Working knowledge of the information systems required to serve alumni, fundraising, and fiscal operations within higher education and/or a non-profit foundation.Preferred Qualifications:Salesforce Administrator Certification;Knowledge of Affinaquest for Salesforce;Ability to assess the impact of new requirements on Salesforce.org and all upstream and downstream applications, systems and processes, and user adoption;Experience in data migration and integration, and knowledge of data migration strategies and tools.
