Summary

The Data Scientist (Statistician) will analyze data harvested from HUMS systems to evaluate the data quality, validity, and usefulness, of each proposed system. The Data Scientist (Statistician) will evaluate the proposed software solutions for statistical model accuracy and present findings to the team. The Data Scientist (Statistician) will be involved in various team meetings and discussions in support of a sound system selection decision. The Data Scientist (Statistician) will support the deployment and evaluations of new technical solutions products, and/or standards in support of functions strategy and operations under limited supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with leads and developers to evaluate proposed systems and software.
  • Evaluate logical and physical models, design, and source to target mapping and perform comparisons of proposed systems.
  • Promote understanding across the team of data quality concepts and methods.
  • Advise on alternatives and the implications of new or revised data processing systems.
  • Work with team leads, integrators, and vendors, to communicate business and technical requirements clearly and effectively.
  • Travel 25% of the time as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 8+ years of related experience
  • Preferred working knowledge of aviation
  • Valid driver's license is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Skilled in the integration of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products and legacy
  • Department of Defense (DoD) systems as part of an integrated information system to include the organization and execution of large scale test and evaluation events
  • Must be well organized
  • Must be an effective communicator at multiple levels with the ability to grasp system concepts and communicate their applications
  • Must be able to speak effectively before groups of internal and/or external customer or employees
