The NJVC Spatial Solutions team has an opening for an experienced Database Administrator to work on cloud-based systems with a mission operations team. The team is involved in operation and sustainment of multiple operational cloud deployed geospatial solutions. A successful candidate will have experience with administration, support, and maintenance of cloud-based databases/Amazon RDS instances.

  • Primary responsibilities will involve sustainment and management of multiple mission operational geodatabases of cloud-base systems.
  • Responding to DB incident reports (e.g., DB locks).
  • Performing DB checks.
  • Running DB queries.
  • Performing routing DB checks.
  • Analyzing future DB needs.
  • Working with users to implement data standards by creating and updating the data dictionary and automated data validation functions.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Master's degree and 6+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience in AWS/cloud technologies
  • Extensive hands-on experience in all DBA tasks, like user management, backup and recovery, snapshot creation, and deletion
  • Experience in RDS and SQL technology
  • DOD 8570 certification (Security+ or equivalent or higher)
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting.
  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals.
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
  • Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Previous customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
