Job Description
The Washington Post is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join its Product Design team. This team of UX, UI and visual designers leads design strategy and visual approaches for The Post's suite of digital products, including washingtonpost.com, our native iOS and Android apps, and internal tools.
As a Senior Product Designer on the Subscriptions Retention team, you'll focus on both the UX and visual design of experiences and features to support subscription account access and management, onboarding and lifecycle subscriber engagement, and renewals to drive subscriber retention. The ideal candidate will have passion for identifying opportunities that have a positive impact on our users and our business and expertise with designing through all phases of the product design process.
You'll be part of a team of more than a dozen designers. You'll collaborate with product managers and internal stakeholders across multiple teams to identify, ideate on and propose new approaches for our acquisition and subscriber experiences across our customer journey.

Here's what you'll be working on:
- Leading design strategy, ideation, and execution to drive subscription retention across our product ecosystem
- Designing and presenting mockups, wireframes, sitemaps, user flows, and prototypes that adhere to user-centered design principles
- Delivering high-quality end-to-end experiences, from concept to execution
- Work on the entire lifecycle of the product: research, user flows, prototyping, high fidelity comps, and collaboration with product managers and engineers on implementation
- Working with other designers to establish & evolve style guides, standards, and design systems
- Partnering with product managers, engineering, marketing, and product leadership to ideate and create new and innovative features and capabilities
- Identify opportunities for improvement in our products and process by leveraging your design experiences, best practices, and user insights to recommend solutions
- Ideating opportunities to optimize our subscriber experience with strategic multivariate test ideas

- Can seamlessly balance focus on small tactical details for complex user scenarios and big picture strategy
- Takes pride in owning their work and driving results on key business initiatives
- Loves to design with a major focus on user interface, end-to-end user experience, and understanding user-driven needs
You have:
- A portfolio that shows a strong body of work including outstanding UX/UI design and strategy
- 4+ years of design experience on digital platforms
- Extensive experience designing interactive applications, preferably subscriptions, e-commerce and/or marketing
- An established track record of producing business results through design
- Deep knowledge of the UX process and research techniques including competitive analysis, user interviews, usability testing, persona creation and journey mapping
- A collaborative spirit and a proven ability to work well with others, building strong partnerships across teams
- Expertise on best practices for design on different platforms and screen sizes
- Comfort with design and prototyping software like Figma, Sketch, the Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, Protopie and Principle
- Working knowledge of front-end development and best practices for design implementation
- Strong presentation and writing skills
- Experience with or strong interest in digital media and news
