As part of these efforts, CHHS remains committed to transdisciplinary research and inter-professional practice leveraging the notable health disciplines comprising the College.About the Project:The George Mason University School of Nursing has received a grant from the Virginia Department of Health and will manage the "Empowered Communities Opioid Project", or ECOP. The Empowered Community Opioid Project (ECOP) utilizes principles from care coordination, case management, and population health to maximize health outcomes and resource utilization for populations and the individuals within them. This targeted approach is a hub-and-spoke community model of care which arranges clinical service delivery assets into a network consisting of an anchor establishment (hub) which offers a full array of clinical support services, and secondary communities (spokes), routing patients needing more intensive services to the hub for treatment. Additionally, it uses active cross-sector system collaborations with criminal justice, behavioral health, and medical teams to optimize resources.About the Position:The Community Peer Recovery Specialist Coordinator is an active member of the Petersburg community site. As a community site coordinator, this role is vitally important in forming a strong bond between advisory board members, community partners (CSB, jail, others), and site peer recovery specialists. The Community Site Coordinator serves on the Petersburg Community team. This role helps in building recovery community models for cross-sector collaboration, engagement, and mentorship of the ECOP model and coordination for quick access to MAT/MOUD Bridges for rapidly released individuals who are involved in the carceral and legal systems. Responsibilities include local implementation and delivery of the ECOP model, team management, and administrative oversight.Preferred personal attributes for this role include but are not limited to:Ability to align staff and partners with goals;Ability to handle multiple deadlines, high volume, and competing priorities;Ability to independently solve problems;Ability to use automated technology to establish and maintain case records, and to produce correspondence and reports;Ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and Zoom;Ability to mentor and motivate a team;Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality;Ability to build rapport and listen actively;Responsibilities:The Community Peer Recovery Specialist Coordinator has authority to interpret and implement management policies and operating practices, such as staffing assignments, training, resolving grievances of staff, and upholding discipline within the workplace. In collaboration with the supervisor, the Community Peer Recovery Specialist Coordinator will participate in the hiring process and will collectively address disciplinary actions.Manage the logistics of implementing the ECOP model at the local community site;Monitor the delivery of peer navigation services, assure fidelity to the ECOP model, and support quality improvement;Collaborate with HUB team to build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders who form the spoke site's advisory board and key partners;Organize and participate in full team meetings with HUB team;Collect data to help identify social and community health needs, gaps, and program impact;Provide both task-oriented and reflective supervision to Peer Navigators, support professional growth, and ensure authenticity of ECOP model adoption;Review status of all active participants, provide updates, solicit team feedback, and share information;Plan, organize and deliver Peer Navigator team meetings;Research and deliver ongoing staff skills development in collaboration with the HUB team;Ensure compliance with established protocols, policies, and procedures;Lead quality data collection, quality checks, analysis and sharing of information. Verify the proper completion of all consent and research paperwork;Create monthly and quarterly reports and meet deadlines; andManage local program costs within budget.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED;Experience coordinating projects;Effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;Previous experience in the medical, behavioral health, or human services field, serving individuals with disabilities;Ability to model wellness, self-care, and healthy boundaries;Reliable transportation to meet partners and staff within the local health district; andAbility to meet volunteer criteria at the local jail or adult detention center.Preferred Qualifications:Supervisory and/or management experience;Lived experience of and in stable recovery from a substance use disorder, with at least (2) years of sustained recovery time; or experience with family member with lived experience of a from substance use disorder;Lived experience of the carceral and legal systems; andCurrent Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) Certification.
