Senior Director, Accelerator PMO

Capital One is seeking a strong and experienced Project Management leader to support the development and delivery of a new project management program and execute on high-priority projects for a new company initiative. A strong candidate will have a proven track record of crafting and delivering a project management program function as well as rigorous analytical skills to track deliverables and measure success of this program. You will work with smart and passionate people to deliver results that have a direct impact on the company's bottom line. You will take on important and exciting responsibility from day one, working with key stakeholders across the company. We are looking for someone with a passion for building the next generation of products and services, a track record of crushing deadlines, and a hunger to imagine a new way of doing things.

  • You are a collaborator. You have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with senior stakeholders
  • You are a project management pro - ready to establish a program with tangible metrics quickly and with little oversight
  • You find signal in noise - you can cut through messy situations to crystallize the message beneath and help create clarity for multiple stakeholder groups


What You'll Own:
  • You will support moderate to large complex cross-departmental efforts
  • You will leverage problem solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent
  • You will focus on projects that are part of our key priorities of Capital One's senior leadership
  • You will plan, design, manage, and execute project plans to ensure delivery in a dynamic environment
  • You will build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional key stakeholders to understand processes and drive results
  • You will creatively solve problems and think outside of the box to help remove barriers and challenges
  • Create executive-ready presentations and materials
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment
  • Display a passion for coaching and developing a team of associates through their leadership style
  • Ensure scope of deliverables, timelines, and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and/or escalate as needed
  • Prioritize work based on established success criteria and timeframes
  • Motivate teams to solve problems and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that's geographically dispersed
  • Support the creation of structured milestone tracking through project roadmaps, workstream planning swimlanes, or other tools
  • Work daily to structure complex problems and develop multifaceted solutions


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 7 years of experience in project or program management
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting or working within technology


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • 8+ years of experience in Program Management
  • 2+ years of corporate management consulting experience
  • 1+ years of experience working in a cloud environment
  • 1+ years of Financial Services industry experience
  • Project Management (PMP) or Program Management (PgMP) certification
