About the Group:

The Card Payment Network's team mission is to:
  • Manage Capital One's relationships with the payment networks, including direct negotiation and implementation of contracts;
  • Provide exceptional support and execution to our internal partners as they leverage the payment networks to achieve their business objectives;
  • Help to optimize the payment network economics across our various card portfolios; and
  • Enable our internal partners to envision, prepare for, and navigate the evolution of the payments landscape


About the Role:

The Card Payment Network team is seeking a high-performing self-starter eager to lead an experienced group of operations and relationship managers. You will develop a network of senior leaders across the enterprise, with whom you will be a thought-partner. With your relationship management team, you will help the lines of business launch new card products with the optimal payment network programs. You will also assist with negotiations and contract development with the networks for research engagements, issuance agreements, and funding programs. With the operations team, you will help manage and refine our daily interchange management processes, coordinate efforts across the enterprise during the bi-annual network releases, and oversee the daily network operations across the debit and credit space. Successful Directors will have the opportunity to work closely with a variety of partner teams, including finance, accounting, technology, risk management, and product management teams.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Help in analyzing and negotiating network offers for new card product issuance agreements
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, including issue resolution, of the card networks
  • Build and cultivate working relationships with line of business and functional team partners
  • Identify and operationalize network economic optimizing enhancements
  • Collaborate across business units and with the networks to help roll-out new products or programs
  • Promote the culture and values of Capital One
  • Approaches problem solving with a strong analytical mindset


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in people management
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management
  • At least 5 years of experience in qualitative analysis


  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA/Masters
  • 3+ years of relationship management experience
  • 3+ years of strategic planning experience
  • 3+ years of credit card experience
  • 3+ years of experience in quantitative analysis
  • 3+ years of contract negotiation experience
  • 5+ years of experience working with card payment networks
  • 7+ years of experience in people management
  • 7+ years of experience in project management
