Description
The purpose of this position is to oversee, design, and conduct surveys and evaluations, perform statistical analysis, reporting, and presentation of results, and provide expert consultation on issues pertaining to survey and evaluation research design and analysis in a team-based environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and facilitate survey, evaluation, and other data-related projects through completion; monitors status of projects and issues, and reports to director as appropriate.
- Assist with the operations of the association’s surveys and analysis team, including oversight of work allocation and implementation, strategic planning, and policy and procedure development, and assume the responsibilities of the team’s director in the director’s absence.
- Lead and serve on national office teams to implement data-related initiatives as part of the association’s strategic plan and other key initiatives.
- Explore, develop, and implement mechanisms to enhance data collection, statistical analysis, and presentation of results to maintain best practices, cost efficiencies, data integrity, and data security.
- Provide expert consultation to national office units, committees, boards, and councils, and external organizations in support of survey and evaluation best practices, design, analysis, reporting, and availability of association data resources.
- Assume technical and administrative responsibilities for the unit’s online survey platform and SPSS software as they relate to the Association’s survey program.
- Represent ASHA at professional meetings and conferences.
Qualifications
Knowledge Typically Acquired Through
- Master’s degree in surveys and evaluation research, mathematics, psychology, or related field
- 6-8 years’ experience in a similar job
- Experience managing projects, providing guidance, and working in a team environment

- Demonstrated ability to direct, manage, and facilitate survey, evaluation, and other data-related projects through completion
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to collect, interpret, and report statistical data
- Strong collaborative, interpersonal, and facilitative skills necessary to work cooperatively on a team as well as the ability to lead teams in work directives
- Demonstrated advanced use of technology to organize and execute work (e.g., SPSS, online survey platforms, Excel, Power BI, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom or other video meeting applications)
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload and to effectively manage multiple complex projects at various stages of their implementation with attention to detail and deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including evidence of technical reports, publications, and professional presentations
- Demonstrated ability to self-direct, set and meet deadlines, and self-prioritize
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve independently and proactively about tasks related to job responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to work with high-level professionals, committees and boards; experience with association management preferred
