Job Description
The Washington Post is seeking a marketing leader to join our subscriptions team and lead our global paid media efforts. This leader will report to the Head of Digital and manage a team of managers and specialists tasked with media strategy, planning, and buying. Your focus will be to build and lead a best-in-class media team and agency to effectively acquire new subscribers across a robust mix of channels including, but not limited to social, digital, mobile, affiliate, direct mail, and video.
The right candidate has experience analyzing current performance data, the latest business needs/objectives, data insights, and available resources, then creating and championing a clear, actionable strategic roadmap for the team. They will be passionate about using paid media to drive business outcomes and have a track record of doing so. Lastly, they will be a champion for member obsessed growth, driving cross-functional collaboration and decisions to achieve our OKRs.

Responsibilities include:
- Build and manage a team of media managers and specialists to launch paid media campaigns across various channels to acquire new subscribers under cost allowables
- Provide comprehensive analysis of performance marketing campaigns and experiments, and make actionable recommendations in digestible form to senior leadership
- Develop hypotheses with eCommerce that will positively impact the user journey business and design experiments to validate them
- Partner with Analytics to develop and implement forecasting and targeting models
- Evaluate, engage and manage external partners/vendors including a media agency
Requirements:
- 8-10 years of experience working in performance marketing or digital media with demonstrated background in channel management and track record of driving business growth
- Direct digital media buying and/or ad tech platform experience preferred including Google Ads, Facebook Ads, DSPs, ad servers, DMPs and/or other digital marketing platforms
- Experience managing a diverse group of paid media team members and agencies
- Ability to work successfully in a quickly-changing environment with entrepreneurial and mission driven spirit
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills - ability to work with large data sets to derive actionable plans
- Motivation to win and deliver the mission of The Post
- Effective communicator with the ability to manage stakeholders across the organization
- BS required, MBA preferred
