Dewberry is currently seeking a senior graphic designer with exceptional creative and critical thinking skills to serve as a key member of its communications department. The designer will report directly to the creative services director and be an integral part of the federal marketing team. The designer will also be responsible for the development and layout of highly creative visuals and illustrations in support of growing Dewberry's business and help achieve the communications department mission of telling the Dewberry story.

Responsibilities

  • Support the pursuit of new work through the development of innovative and process-oriented graphic design, to heighten messaging and communication.
  • Work individually or in a team environment to analyze and recommend creative techniques to turn strategic objectives into persuasive visual content.
  • Work on proposal presentations to assess project needs and recommend appropriate design solutions or visual representations of often complex processes and other content.
  • Assure that graphic solutions produced for new business pursuits achieve a uniformly high level of market-competitive design.
  • Work with creative services director and design team to enforce quality control; protect and ensure adherence to company standards on all visual materials.
  • As needed on work projects, consult with clients and/or colleagues to determine the appropriate form and tone of content being captured and gives input on appropriate visual imagery.
  • Conceptualize and execute designs for the business development and marketing teams.
  • Manage various assignments simultaneously, including long-term where multiple parties are involved.
  • Collaborate on and help implement interview preparation to include developing PowerPoint presentations, interview boards, etc. to graphically enhance communication.
  • Recognize and apply best practices, industry trends, and design standards.
  • Provide training to junior staff on graphics, layout, design, and production standards and best practices.
  • Maintain awareness of existing photography and graphics.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a professional setting; some A/E/C industry experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, marketing, or communications.
  • Expert in Adobe CC software including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; Proficient in MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Must possess strong digital illustration, info graphic design, and technical design skills.
  • Experience with Premiere Pro and/or Dreamweaver a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to provide excellent quality control.
  • Creative, artistic and critical thinking skills are a must.
  • Must possess conceptual ability and experience in layout and/or large documents.
  • Must possess a strong adherence to detail and good time management skills.
  • Self-starter, reliable, responsible and dependable; adaptable and flexible.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment to develop constructive/cooperative working relationships.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize assignments to meet critical deadlines, a must.
  • Must be available to work overtime as necessary to meet business requirements.
  • Hybrid position in Fairfax, VA.
