Manager, Warehouse Operations
Position #: 106466

The Warehouse Manager works within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) at the University of Maryland, College Park. This position provides supervision, oversight and coordination of operational and administrative activities of the DIT Warehouse. The position involves the understanding of the systems and requirements to manage the Network and Infrastructure Services (NIS) warehouse and all activities of NIS inventory control from a technical and management perspective. This position requires the ability to resolve issues and significant matters by utilizing independent judgment, discretion, creativity, and analytical thinking. A valid driver’s license is required.

Minimum qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience

EXPERIENCE: A combined total of at least 3 years of experience between the following:

  • Supervisory experience managing, instructing, and assisting staff with operational and project related activities.
  • Effective team planning, and the ability to share and communicate information effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Experience with inventory management, including restocking, checking in inventory, and setting appropriate minimum and maximum material levels.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to effectively plan and organize operational and project related work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Able to work concurrently on multiple projects, adjust to occasional changes in priorities and respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to collect, compile, organize, analyze and report information.
  • Ability to instruct, direct, assist, guide and share information with both technical and non technical personnel.
  • Ability to work accurately with calculations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, faculty/staff, students, administrators and commercial vendors.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, demonstrating strong decision making skills, initiative and creativity.
  • Good judgment, flexibility in responding to ever-changing situations and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.

Preferences

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in a higher education environment
Experience in warehouse inventory control of networking and telephony supplies and equipment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience with Graybar and eTurns inventory management systems

Salary range:  $80, 000 - 94,000

Physical demands: Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 40 pounds. Significant portion of the day spent on feet and walking short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. Some periods of time may be spent in a warehouse, data center, or storage room. Work is also performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Ability to drive a vehicle.
