IT Specialists (INFOSEC) are a mission critical occupation for HRSA. These positions are responsible for the analysis of system and/or security requirements, the development and implementation of mission critical applications for the agency's Information Technology operations.

Basic Requirements:

To be creditable, an applicant's one full year of specialized experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for successful job performance.

- Providing administration for HRSA's enterprise network environment in all aspects of network operations security to include Virtual Private Networks, firewalls, remote access, Network Admission Control, routing, switching, Intrusion Detection Systems, and network infrastructure.
- Developing and maintaining security policies, and participating in regular system audits and certification processes.
- Evaluate trends, forecast requirements, and implement security improvements; and configure security information and event management solutions to capture data from all sources.
- Perform vulnerability validation and remediation within acceptable resolution timeframes based on criticality.

- Configuring and managing secure segmentation using Data Center switches that support both LACP and PAGP, such as Cisco Nexus/Catalyst switch platforms;
- Configuring dynamic routing protocols such as Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) to control and secure traffic flow with service providers;
- Performing packet analysis tools such as Wireshark to monitor and troubleshoot complex wired and wireless network and security issues.
