The entire Valor team works hard to earn the trust of those who have faith in us to care for them with respect and through methods that lead to excellent outcomes.About the RoleThis job is CONTINGENT upon contract award, client approval, completion of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / High Risk clearance.Federal Program / Behavioral Health Stress Counselor - Washington DC or RemoteThis position serves as the Behavioral Health Stress Counselor (BHSC) supporting multiple Occupational Health Services Centers at major disaster sites. The deployable BHSC to support employees and their family members which, shall provide care for individuals related to acute trauma, and post-traumatic stress related to the event, survivors guilt, grief stress counseling, walking about the site to speak with response workers, conducting stress lectures, providing a stress lab, helping managers lead through a crisis, and so forth. The goal of a behavioral health counselor is to assist employees in minimizing the emotional impacts and stressors associated with disaster operations. The behavioral health counselor shall support employees in establishing coping mechanisms in efforts to ensure staff continues to function at a high capacity to effectively continue the mission.RequirementsKey Responsibilities Provide consultations; psychological first aid; clinical consultation; debriefings; and crisis management meetings. Provide services in person, onsite assistance, at disaster locations to support individuals affected by the challenges of disaster operations. Provide counselors meeting employees in the field where they are conducting disaster operations which shall include working in an austere environment. Conduct an analysis of the site location and shall meet with the site management staff (such as the Safety Officer or Disaster Safety Officer) to discuss the approach that shall be tailored to the event. Stress Counseling services shall include several interventions designed to increase the individual responder's and manager's ability to cope and thrive in these difficult environments. The services are distinct from the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Management Consultations: Professional guidance and coaching to assess interpersonal and organizational issues that may be affecting site employees or groups. Consultations help facilitate management skill building and the development of intervention strategies for dealing with stressors at the site location. Perform Walk-About with the purposes of keeping stress counseling services visible and monitoring the stress level of the site. Perform one-on-one session to discuss stress related issue(s). Perform Health and Wellness Presentations for disaster site employees and managers on stress management-related topics. Perform Process Groups, informal presentations, to help employees manage and discuss key stressful issues that may be occurring in a workgroup or individually during disaster work. Provide utilization reports, such as numbers and types of services provided, hours on-site, and so forth, to include trend analysis and recommendations. Must have minimum of 5 years' experience in relevant field. Must have an unrestricted state license in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the US Must have Government healthcare environment experience. Experience of and insight into the Clinical environment to be able to drive major improvement programs. Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills. Experience with MS Office Ability to support all aspects of the project including planning tasks, monitoring progress, and identifying potential issues. Experience in an Adult Outpatient, Inpatient, Ambulatory and/or Emergency Department preferred Ability to adapt to fast-moving environments and changing requirements. Public Trust clearance preferred.Clearance Requirement: Public Trust / High RiskAs this position is categorized as Public Trust / High Risk position, candidates will be subject to appropriate Background Investigation.Job Location: Washington DC or RemoteAs this position will be required to travel to federal government sites, candidate must be residing near a national airport.Travel:No international travel is required.
