The MPI Technician will maintain the integrity of the Master Patient Index and lead the resolution process for duplicate medical record number generation. Will respond to potential and actual duplicate medical record numbers and will report to pertinent findings to all appropriate hospital staff. Will investigate and reconcile all duplicate medical record numbers per hospital policy and procedure. Contact parents, patients and appropriate agencies to confirm identification of a duplicate medical record number and relay final resolution. Compile weekly duplicate medical record number reports and distribute to designated management staff. Minimum EducationHigh School Diploma or GED (Required)Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management (Preferred)Minimum Work Experience2 years Health care experience in medical records of related field (patient statistics). Contact parents, patient, and appropriate agencies in an effort to confirm patient identity and resolve duplicate medical record numbers. Compile weekly reports on duplicate medical record activity.
