Due to continued rapid expansion and growth, we have two new full-time Hardware/Systems Test Engineers - High Voltage Electrical/Electronic jobs at our state-of-the-art electrification laboratory near Reston, VA available through Modis as we partner with a leader in building the national infrastructure for electric vehicle DC fast-charging stations. It's an exciting period to be working in the electric vehicle industry, and it's just the beginning.We are seeking candidates with strong hands-on engineering skills with proven problem-solving abilities to perform advanced product testing in a state-of-the-art electrification laboratory, using instrumentation on major brand-new electric automobiles to ensure compliance by performing interoperability testing, investigation, failure analysis, experimentation, and design resolution. Tier III engineers are engaged when issues have been funneled down to the lab (from lower-tiered engineers) for further investigation, data analysis, experimentation, and resolution.Our full-time, W2 roles offer competitive compensation plus 10% annual reoccurring bonuses, paid overtime, and full benefits including 13+ holidays, generous PTO, United Healthcare PPO medical, dental, vision, and matching 401k. Required Qualifications:A minimum of two to three years of professional experience in power electronics including implementation and testing.Experience validating, testing, and debugging electrical and electronic systems.Capable of writing test specifications and test plans based on norms, standards, or use cases.Comfortable working with high voltages and currents.Experience using software tools such as Jira, Confluence, or TrelloMS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc.Great technical and interpersonal communication.Evidence of being a self-starter and bringing projects to completion with little or no support.Preferred/Helpful Skills:Any knowledge of electrical vehicle charging standards (eg, UL2202, IEC61851, ISO15118, and DIN70121) is desirable but not required.Any knowledge about embedded systems and automotive network communication (CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, etc) is desirable but not required.Any experience with communications interfaces such as I2C, SPI, RS-485, and Ethernet.Any experience with Wireshark and network packet sniffing technologies.Any experience with switching power converters: motor drivers, inverters, rectifiers, and battery chargers.Any experience with a variety of microprocessors, FPGAs and DSPs.Any expertise in power electronics circuits and concepts.Any knowledge of power electronics topologies.Understanding of key components: power semiconductors, inductors, transformers, capacitors, inverters, and DC to DC converters.Ability to review and understand electrical schematics and component datasheets.Understanding of IPC and visual inspectionAny expertise in troubleshooting and debugging electronic systems.Experience in high voltage physical testing with electric vehicles and charging stations.Any experience in vehicle testing, validation, and measurement, ideally CAN tools understanding.
