We aim to do this by being innovative, creative, and nimble in offering distinctive products and services.Position DescriptionThe Risk Manager / Internal Auditor is responsible for establishing and monitoring key risk indicators, as well as implement corrective action plans to mitigate risk by analyzing transactions, internal reports, and financial information for potential fraud risks. Safeguard the credit union, its members, reputation, and assets by identifying, assessing, and managing all threats to the achievement of the business objectives. Support the CU's commitment to strengthening and safeguarding the operations and ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place to minimize and mitigate risk. Position Responsibilities Risk Management - Design, implement and manage a risk management program to identify and lessen threats to mitigate risk.Support Management with through various operational and/or related risk management activities.Review, Maintain and manage reports of operational risks Produce and implement strategies and plans to avoid future risks.Responsible for managing and monitoring vendor contracts for the credit union.Test and document business continuity, contingency strategies and disaster recovery plans. Internal Auditor - Coordination and implementation of a highly technical and/or diversely complex auditing work plan in accordance with professional standards. Establishing and executing an annual audit work plan to include multiple types of internal control audits.Evaluate the effectiveness of the credit union's internal controls framework by addressing risks and accomplishing the company's goals and objectives.Conduct audits of the credit union to assess the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records and efficiency of operations.Provide documentation of the credit union's internal control systems; report findings and make recommendations.Compliance - Overseeing the credit union's policies and procedures are in compliance with all related laws and regulations.Oversees the record retention program, BSA anti-money laundering procedures with the associated Compliance officer.Coordinates independent internal audits and reporting utilizing outside auditors. Create policies, procedures and control assessments in response to identified risks.Analyze new and pending laws and regulations that affect credit union's current practices. Ensure affected staff is informed of changing policies and procedures.General -Reports to and takes direction from the Supervisory CommitteeSupervises the BSA/Fraud AnalystProvide training and technical support to management and employees regarding risk management strategies and programs.Act as liaison to the Supervisory Committee, the NCUA and 3rd party audit and compliance companies.Documenting and Supporting Managements team with ensuring all risks aspects have been considered before launching new services, products and operational initiatives.Support Executive Management with assigned special projects.Strong presentation skills when presentations at conferences, training and/or at the division level.Position Requirements Four-year college degree in a related area; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Managing the risk and compliance functions in a medium to large sized financial organization (credit union strongly preferred). Solid knowledge in all areas of accounting and audit procedures and the ability to work independently; certified internal auditor preferred. NAFCU Compliance Certification The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation both internally and externally is an important part of the job.
