Entry-level Systems Engineer
Responsibilities: Peraton is seeking an Entry-level Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Herndon, VA with in office or hybrid options. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is modernizing and consolidating the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CAs customers. As part of the modernization program, the Systems Engineer is responsible for a wide range of tasks and associated work products including requirements definition, concept of operations, systems modeling, system interface specifications, estimation, and trade studies. Roles and Responsibilities:Work with the product owner and customer stakeholders to understand customer business needs and prioritiesDefine and manage requirements, both functional and non-functional, as high level epics, features and user stories to support SAFe Agile methodologyDefine the system domain and develop system models using model-based engineering (UML and SysML)Author models in an Enterprise Architect toolSupport Agile scrum development teamsDevelop concept of operations (CONOPS) and high-level solution plans aligned with define Solution EpicsLead Decision Analysis Resolution (DAR), gap analysis, and trade study activities for system engineering-related areasExecute within SAFe Framework environment Qualifications: Required Qualifications:To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:Bachelor's degree in STEM and 0-2 years of experience.Experience supporting systems engineering activities for software projects with involvement in requirements management and technical design/development of software solutions.Experience defining business domains, processes and use cases and developing a representation of the proposed solution using model-based engineering (UML and SysML).Exposure to Agile development concepts and tools.Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.Must be local to the Herndon, VA area with the ability to commute on-site 2-3 times per week. Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. An active Secret or Interim Secret clearance is strongly preferred. Desired Qualifications:Background in Agile Software Development, specifically experience in developing detailed user stories to include precise and descriptive acceptance criteria.Experience using Agile and engineering tools that support Agile Software Development, such as IBM Engineering. For Colorado Residents: Colorado Salary Minimum: $43,500 Colorado Salary Maximum: $105,500 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
