So are we.ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:The Global Assistant Controller will be stepping into a dynamic period of growth and acceleration at The Knot Worldwide. This person will help shape the growing finance team, as well as the future of the business. This position will report directly to the VP Accounting, Global Controller, with high levels of executive visibility working directly with the leadership team on various initiatives.You will be responsible for day-to-day accounting and help head a high performing team. You will be both a leader and a team player. By stepping into this role, you will take part in scaling the systems and processes, as well as position yourself as a key player in this period of hyper-growth.RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist the VP, Accounting, Global Controller in overseeing the activities of the global close team.Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated close procedures and ensure the timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy of information used to prepare internal financial reporting to management.Maintain, implement, and sustain a global monthly accounting close deadline calendar ensuring that deadlines are met and workflow is completed timely.Support financial statement reviews and audits with coordinating preparation of schedules and appropriate documentation, including working with colleagues located across our global footprint to complete statutory audits as required.Support the tax team in completion of the quarterly and annual consolidated tax provision and VAT returns and other ad hoc requestsProvide guidance and direction to staff for the purpose of maintaining organized and detailed financial accounting records and files to document transactions and processes.Manage the completion of close workpapers related to equity, purchase accounting, debt, state and local tax, and other complex accounting areas, as neededWork closely with our tax team to administer the global transfer pricing policy including managing intercompany activity and tax implications.Maintain and monitor a system of internal controls that will ensure the integrity of all systems, processes and data to provide accurate financial results.Coordinate the implementation of new accounting processes.Assist Global Controller with operationalizing technical accounting issues and coordination related to M&A activities and subsequent accounting integrations. Assist the Global Controller documenting and maintaining accounting policies and technical accounting interpretations.Be a champion of change in a highly dynamic environment where leadership's attitude to growth opportunities for the team really matters.Assist Global Controller with special projects, migrations and implementations, as needed.SUCCESSFUL ASSISTANT CONTROLLERS CANDIDATES HAVE:8-10 years of progressive finance experience10% travel, neededBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.M&A experience is preferred.CPA certification is required.Minimum 6 years of finance oversight and operational work experience.Experience managing a larger 15+ person organization.You must be able to roll up your sleeves and set an example for the team and maintain a positive and motivating outlook.Outstanding coaching and mentoring skills.Experience in software companies is a plus.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent working knowledge of Netsuite preferred.Must be proficient with other computer based accounting software and MS Office products. Strong general accounting skills and thorough knowledge of GAAP.Ability to communicate and interface with external accountants and auditors Ability to effectively extend knowledge and skills in a financial discipline. Ability to reorganize priorities and respond quickly to issues.Ability to effectively communicate with employees, staff, vendors and customers. Must possess good managerial abilities.
