Description:The Activity Specialist will work in conjunction with other Therapeutic Integration Staff and under the supervision of the TI Program Interim Manager to plan and implement appropriate activities for participants in the Therapeutic Integration Program while working towards individualized Treatment Plan goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Plan quality therapeutic activities for Youth Autism Services participants, at least one week in advance. Organize activity/lesson plans in a user-friendly manner (includes materials list, as well as step-by-step instructions) so they are accessible to others in the event of the Activity Specialist's absence.Assist TI staff with the implementation of therapeutic activities.Coordinate with TI staff and management to maintain necessary activity supplies.Plan and organize community trips, outings, and special events under MSDE regulations.Provide a monthly calendar of activities to the TI Program Manager.Assist participants in activities of daily living.Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for programming.Actively participate in the supervision of participants, including providing direct care in an assigned staff: participant ratio when requested.Participate in various in-service training activities, staff meetings, and Youth Autism Services team meetings.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, vendors, parents, and League staff.Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Therapeutic Integration Program Manager and Director.Demonstrate the 5 Core Values of The League (Accountability, Participant Focus, Quality, Independence, and Mutual Respect).Operationalize the mission of The League for People with Disabilities by creating a supportive environment for participants and staffRequirements:Have a Satisfactory CJIS reportHave a clean driving record with no more than 2 pointsEducational and/or Experience:Prefer a licensed CTRS as recognized by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation CertificationA minimum of 2 years of experience in coordinating activities or therapeutic recreation activities for adults, individuals with disabilities, or other special needs populationsThe ability to lift up to 70 lbs. in accordance with safe lifting practicesWork within the policies and guidelines set by The League for People with Disabilities.PI183264368
