OverviewThe Help Desk Technician will act as the Council's computer services help desk operator as a member of the Information Services team, with potential for growth within the team. The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):Provide first tier technical support on client software. Report potential problems in computer network systems, application software, or any other Information Services (IS) operations to the attention of IS management. Assist in all IS projects, including software and hardware installations and upgrades, operating reorganization projects, monthly maintenance, and wiring. Provide scheduled technical support on off-hours (evenings, weekends, early mornings, and holidays) as required. This duty is shared by all IS staff and occurs once every three months. Maintain software and hardware inventories. QualificationsDegree and/or certifications in a related field with strong academic performance preferred A minimum of one year of related work experience in a service oriented position Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Network Operations experience a plus Familiarity with desktop operating system and network architecture Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work independently with proven ability to problem solve Exceptional organizational skills, along with strong follow-through and attention to detail Flexibility to work between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm with additional hours as needed. Preferably 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Travel to the New York City office 1-2 times per year Ability to be on-call for weekend technical support and, if necessary, come into the office to resolve system problems (Approximately once every 11 weeks) Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds in weight About CFRFounded in 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a leading nonprofit membership organization, research center, and publisher, with headquarters in New York, an office in Washington, DC, and programs nationwide.
