Duties

Incumbent will be responsible for supporting project managers throughout the project management lifecycle (PMLC): initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing. During this lifecycle, the IT Specialist is responsible for conducting project assessments, presenting project assignments, maintenance and updates of project artifacts, project status submission, final closure and lessons learned documents, ad hoc reports as required, etc.

IT Specialist duties will include:
  • Assist project manager in managing complex IT projects/programs, including application development efforts, systems upgrades and installations, IT security initiatives, etc.
  • Ensure activities are completed in accordance with the project scope and within the approved schedule and budget constraints.
  • Assist the project managers in creating strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning as well as planning and scheduling project deliverables, goals, and milestones for requested IT Systems.
  • Ensure appropriate standard project practices and procedures are established and followed.
  • Develop reports and presentations on the status of projects assigned.
  • Analyze data from reports to recommend areas of improvement.
  • Effectively communicate project information based upon the audience.
  • Conduct Project assessments to determine scope and resources required.

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H / FG/GS-10-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience may include but not limited to: Experience supporting IT projects and programs, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed and project milestones are met; this includes developing reports, analyzing data, providing project status updates, and meeting budget constraints in support of complex IT systems and subsystems.

Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.
