Duties

As a Records and Information Management Specialist at the GS-0308-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Oversees the development of and provides management direction for the DMA Records and Information Management (RIM) Program.
  • Serves as the DMA technical expert on organization-wide electronic and non- electronic records management issues and policies.
  • Coaches the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques, provides advice on work methods, practices, and procedures, and assists the individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
  • Serves as the Records and Information Management (RIM) subject matter expert for DMA.
  • Advises DMA Directors (or their designated representative) on the status of their RIM program and provides recommendations for improvement to increase effectiveness and efficiency and mitigate risk.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Analyze, evaluate, and advise the creation, receipt, maintenance and disposition of physical and electronic records and information management.
  • Develop and write organizational-wide RIM policy and procedures for the implementation and operation of an effective and efficient RIM Program.
  • Provide expert guidance and direction to records officers and custodians on the implementation of the RIM Program within each of the agency's components as it relates to the agency's strategic plan.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
