Basic Requirement for a Research Psychologist:

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with a major or equivalent in psychology.

Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as: experience conducting personnel research (e.g., hypothesis development, research design, item development, data collection, statistical analysis including adverse impact using statistical packages such as SPSS or R, and reporting and publishing research findings) in relevant areas of Psychology (e.g., Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Cognitive Science, Personality Psychology, Social Psychology, Occupational Health Psychology, Human Factors). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DB-02 (GS-11).

Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for DB-03(GS12-13): Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree directly related to the position as an indicator of the knowledge, skills, and abilities (e.g., test theory, psychometric methodology and statistics, adverse impact and cut score analyses) to conduct personnel research.

To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 36 hours (total semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
