We are seeking an Associate Director / Director of Accounts Payable to join our rapidly growing biotechnology company. Reporting directly to the Sr. Director, Accounting Operations, the role will be a key business partner and point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, will direct a team of individuals responsible for invoice processing, vendor relations, and payment execution and is accountable for the overall success of the Accounts Payable team. The successful candidate demonstrates outstanding critical thinking, enjoys solving problems and collaborating cross-functionally to support business objectives and new initiatives. The role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem resolution skills, system savviness and demonstrates a high level of customer orientation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Responsible for the entire Accounts Payable (AP) team, ensuring the timely processing and payment of invoices for manufacturing, research and development, commercial operations, and general and administrative cost centers Accountable for the overall quality of service delivery from AP to the organization, including acting as an escalation point to resolve any issues or concerns and being a collaborative business partner to operational functions Provide leadership for key initiatives for the procure to pay process, including automated invoice processing and payment solutions, ACH integration, intercompany transactions, and global expansion efforts/shared services Administer the anticipated automated invoice and processing payment solution, establish policies and processes to monitor exceptions, provide reporting and analysis Ensure SAP blocked, parked, GR/IR, and aging reports are timely reviewed and monitored; drive issue resolution with managers, including proposed solutions and engagement of cross-functional team members Work closely with Treasury on payment coordination and cash expectations, ensure timely remittance of invoices Assess and respond to accounts payable team and operational needs; hire, advise, train, and support the development of staff Ensure compliance with Accounting Operations policies for day-to-day invoice processing, stale dated checks, unclaimed property, 1099 reporting, tax exemption status, and other informational reporting inquiries Assist in preparation of related month end close schedules, entires and reconciliations Support external audit and SOX control requests, maintain internal controls and compliance Minimum Requirements: 8-10+ years related accounting experience, including 5 years managing accounts payable and related processes Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry experience a plus BS degree in Accounting or Finance Proficiency with SAP preferred, including system implementation projects Demonstrated written and verbal ability to communicate clearly and with internal clients and individuals at all levels of the organization Understands the importance of being a support service function and builds stakeholder relationships Strong leader with ability to coach and develop team members Proactive, makes independent assessments and presents possible solutions timely Acts with integrity, understands internal controls within Accounting Operations Problem solver, ability to engage and empower others for successful outcomes Must be proficient in MS Excel and have a working knowledge of other MS Office Software Novavax offers a base salary, annual bonus, equity grants, professional career development/growth opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, Rx, STD, LTD, Life, Optional Life, 401(k) plan.
