Company Job Title: Senior Sampling Statistician

Location: Washington, DC

Summary:

TheSenior Sampling Statisticianis responsible for generating weights and other adjustments, performing imputation, overseeing quality control procedures, and leading or advising on advanced analytics for existing projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Consult on matters of survey design and ensure that OMB and NCES' statistical standards are met throughout all work on the task order.
  • Direct projects in statistical methodology research or survey design and implementation.
  • Provide complex sample designs, the development of sampling weights, the evaluation of survey frames and coverage, the use of area frames to supplement incomplete survey frames, and the design of sample surveys to either maximize or minimize overlap across separate sample surveys, depending upon programmatic needs.
  • Assist in all aspects of sample design.
  • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
  • Must have completed a doctoral or other terminal degree and shall have been working in the discipline at least 6+ years
  • Must be expert with a track record of solid accomplishments in statistics, social science research, or survey methodology
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience using or contributing to the development, implementation, or analysis of data from the National Household Education Survey, Early Childhood Longitudinal Survey, or Education Supplement of the Current Population Survey
  • Successful completion of DoE background check and ability to obtain a public trust
  • The position requires a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of the following: Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service internally and externally
  • Ability to respond to COR/Task Leader and customers' changing priorities with established deadlines
  • Ability to work as a functional part of a core team with ED staff and its other contractors
  • Exceptional ability to communicate clearly, courteously, and effectively
  • Exceptional ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to deliver quality products and services that meet and/or exceed customer needs/requirements
  • Ability to travel for up to 25%
  • Ability to occasionally work after hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
