The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SKCCC) seeks a _BMS Research Nurse_ who will be responsible for the implementation and daily management of a research biopsy management service within the Translational Research Central Services Core of the SKCCC. This service will be responsible for managing the research biopsy activities of participants enrolled on clinical trial protocols of the SKCCC. Specific Duties & Responsibilities: + Review clinical protocols on a weekly basis as part of the SKCCC pre-CRC subcommittee to identify and establish contact with those clinical trials which will utilize the research biopsy service.+ Develop trial-specific protocols/workflow as required by the trial sponsor in coordination with the clinical biopsy services.+ Verify participant registration within the CRMS, and verify that active billing IO#s are registered within same for service reimbursement.+ Provide day-to-day oversight and train study coordinators to guide participants through biopsy process.+ Attend participant biopsies (when necessary) to guide protocol compliance, retrieve specimens at biopsy for follow-up processing and/or shipping to external core laboratories.+ Transcribe data completely and accurately to case report forms, as needed, for data reporting compliance.+ Maintain accurate records of services rendered and generate monthly invoices for service reimbursement.+ Other duties as assigned._General Nursing Responsibilities_+ Develop, discuss and coordinate trial-specific biopsy protocols with the lead physicians of each of the biopsy service centers within JHMI.+ Perform initial triage of a biopsy request to help decide which biopsy service should initially be approached for scheduling.+ Coordinate scheduling of participant biopsy (including telephone contact with participant) and biopsy service.+ Coordinate laboratory processing and handling with appropriate lab supervisors.+ Maintain confidential records of participants according to FDA and NIH regulations.+ Other duties as assigned._Protocol Team Responsibilities:_+ Implement protocols as assigned by becoming familiar with all aspects of their compliance requirements.+ Orient other key staff to protocols by organizing and coordinating training sessions.+ Maintain appropriate numbers of supplies needed for specific protocols.+ Act as resource back-up for staff assigned to protocols.+ Present protocol workflow status and any compliance issues at staff meetings, service meetings, etc. as assigned.+ Assist data management team with resolution of data inconsistencies.+ Maintain protocol statistics, including patient status and enrollment logs. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Individual must be a registered nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related discipline preferred. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment. Acceptable completion of the JHH credentialing process. Preferred Qualifications :+ Bachelor's degree in nursing or related discipline preferred.+ Oncology experience preferred. Licensure, Certification, Registration: Current licensure in the State of Maryland as a Registered Nurse Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities/Competencies: Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required. Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing and walking for extended period. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Ability to move standard equipment through a hospital or clinical environment.
